How To Clean Your Invisalign Trays – 4 Steps For Success

If you’re getting Invisalign at White Dental Spa, it’s important to clean your trays properly to keep them clean, avoid stains, and ensure your mouth stays healthy. So in this blog, we’ve put together a few simple steps you need to take to keep your Invisalign trays bright and clean. Let’s get started.

Clean Your Teeth & Trays In The Morning

Your mouth tends to dry out overnight, which sends bacteria into overdrive. That’s why you get “morning breath,” which can be even worse with Invisalign. So start your morning routine by removing your trays. Rinse them off, then brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste.

Once your teeth are clean, you should also brush your trays. We recommend using clear, unscented antibacterial soap that washes away cleanly without any residue. You should use a separate toothbrush for cleaning your trays.

Then, once your teeth and Invisalign trays are clean, pop them back into your mouth and get ready for the day!

Remove & Rinse Your Trays Whenever You Eat & Drink

Throughout the day, you’ll need to take your Invisalign trays out whenever you eat and drink anything, with the exception of tap and bottled water. This is because chewing while wearing your trays could damage them, and eating colorful foods or drinking beverages like coffee or tea could stain them.

So take your trays out, and rinse them off whenever you eat or drink. Then, brush your teeth before you put your trays back in. Don’t delay, either. Remember that you need to wear your trays for 22+ hours per day for the best results.

Keep Your Trays Protected When You’re Not Wearing Them

Whenever your Invisalign trays are not in your mouth, you’ll need to keep them protected in the carrying case. This protects them from dust and bacteria, and also ensures you don’t lose or misplace your trays. Keep your carrying case with you at all times so that you can store your trays properly.

Soak Your Trays At Least Once Per Day

You can do this at any time of the day, but most patients choose to soak their trays at night before bed, as this is a convenient time. Brush your teeth, then place your trays in a container of slightly warm water with Invisalign cleaning crystals. Stir the crystals until they dissolve, and let them soak for about 15 minutes. Then, give your trays a good brushing and put them back into your mouth.

Invisalign crystals are the best tool for the job, since they help clean the trays, remove residue, and kill bacteria. However, some people use denture cleaning tablets, which provide similar results. This may be a good option if you can’t find Invisalign cleaning crystals in your area.
