Are You Afraid Of The Dentist? Don’t Be!

Going to the dentist can be scary. It’s been estimated that around 30-40 million people in America alone suffer from some form of dental anxiety. Dental anxiety can range from simply being uncomfortable at the dentist’s office to a severe dental phobia which can prevent you from going to the dentist altogether.

Dental anxiety is a common reason for skipping dental appointments. At White Dental Spa, you don’t have to let dental anxiety prevent you from getting regular care for your teeth or from getting the smile that you’ve always wanted. We make it easy to come to the dentist, even if you have dental anxiety.

We Don’t Use Needles or Drills

Needles and drills are both common “triggers” for people with dental anxiety. In fact, fear of needles affects more Americans (50 million) than dental anxiety!

Dental drills can also be scary. The loud, intimidating noise of a dental drill and the vibration that it causes when it’s used in most dental procedures can easily trigger dental anxiety and cause fear and panic.

At White Dental Spa, we do not use needles or drills. We use advanced dental tools such as laser drills to ensure that you remain comfortable and can enjoy your time at the dentist.

We Offer Sedation Dentistry to all of Our Patients

Sedation dentistry is one of the best ways to mitigate the effects of dental anxiety. If you suffer from minor dental anxiety or simply wish to have a more comfortable experience at the dentist, we can offer you minimal inhaled sedation (laughing gas), or oral conscious sedation.

Laughing gas makes you feel euphoric and comfortable during treatment, and it wears off quickly so that you can drive home after your procedure. Oral conscious sedation is taken in pill-form and it has similar effects. However, these effects last longer when taken orally, so you can’t usually drive yourself home after your appointment if you receive oral conscious sedation.

Our Doctors Provide Customized Care

One of the best ways to deal with dental anxiety is by avoiding common triggers. If you discuss the things that you don’t like about dentistry with your Dallas dentist, we can take steps to minimize your fear and anxiety.

For example, if you fear the loss of control associated with dentistry, you can set up a signal, such as raising a hand, that will tell your dentist to stop what they are doing. You can do this whenever you need to catch your breath or if you feel uncomfortable.

Dr. E-Jan Tung and Dr. Quinn Liu are happy to accommodate patients of all kinds, and can customize their approach to oral care in order to avoid dental anxiety triggers, and provide the best results.
